"Managing Complex Trauma: Embracing Unknowns and Confronting Challenges"

Psychiatrists from outside Ontario and related mental health professionals (MD, Medical Psychotherapy/GP Psychotherapy, CPsych, SW, RP, OT, RN, NP)  are invited to join as OPA Associates.

Program includes 4 speakers followed by panel discussion, focusing on psychotherapeutic approaches to managing patients with complex PTSD:

  • From Implicit Memory to Insight: Sensorimotor Approaches in the Psychodynamic treatment of individuals with unresolved trauma

  • The role of expanded states of consciousness in the treatment of Complex PTSD

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After active engagement in this program, participants will be able to:

  • Acknowledge limitations of current evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches to managing complex PTSD and consider alternative therapeutic approaches,
  • Differentiate between psychotherapeutic approaches to managing patients with complex PTSD: long-term psychodynamic and psychosomatic therapy, brief suicide & trauma therapy, artificial intelligence, working with expanded states of consciousness, and psychedelic-assisted therapy, and
  • Identify opportunities and challenges in using such approaches with adult populations.

 

Registration fee includes lunch and dinner. Registrants will be sent info about additional social events occurring in the morning and evening hours surrounding the conference!
